4. Description: The Awarding Authority wishes to understand understand the current market pricing of combat helmets with specifications similar to the Virtus helmet system.
The VIRTUS HSS (Head Sub-System) is a combat protective system that integrates with the User’s head. Its primary function is to provide fragmentation, bump and blunt impact protection. The main component of the system, the helmet, enables non-protective ancillary equipment (e.g. optics, counterweights, Tactical Recognition Flashes (TRFs) etc) and scalable protection to be directly mounted (e.g. mandible guard, nape protection, visor), as seen in Figures 1-4. The HSS also includes components that can be worn, exclusive to the helmet, such as the low impact eye wear spectacles and the medium impact eye wear goggles, both of which enable the inclusion of corrective lenses.
