Challenge
A defence client required a carbon fibre, high-strength, lightweight flight component at volume (400 units) within a 4-week lead time.
Solution
PENTAXIA is a leading UK composite contract manufacturer renowned for its press moulding capabilities, which include manufacturing composite ejector seat components for fighter planes. This knowledge of press moulding was combined with a high-speed carbon fibre prepreg curing system to allow for the rate and volume of production of the defence client’s flight components. The PENTAXIA team designed and machined metallic matched tooling, carried out the process engineering and component proven out, and moulded, trimmed, and painted 400 components all within a four-week period.

PENTAXIA are based in Derby, UK and have a 70,000 sqft facility on a 7-acre site. They are AS9100 rev D, IATF1649 and Cyber Essentials Certified and offer a wide range of machining and composites capabilities, including:
