About the work

Who the specialist will work with The Data Engineer will work with the CySAAS DART and Accreditation team to analyse existing DART data, improve reporting metrics and identify data attributes that will inform the disvovery phase of DART2.
The Data Engineer will also work with the Secure by Design team from the Cyber Resiliance Programme and the Standards as a Service Team.
What the specialist will work on 1. Engage with stakeholders across Defence to determine Reporting Metrics required from DART
2. Identify key data attributes and data value streams within DART
3. Produce new business reporting metrics from existing data.
4. Analyse data quality within DART and identify Targets of Accreditation (TOA) that require improvements in daya quality
5. Communicate with TOA owners attributes that require improved data quality
6. Exploit existing data feeds from DART to inform future tooling Discovery phase
Work setup
Working arrangements Your primary location will be RAF Wyton. You will be expected to work on-site most of the time. You will need to be on-site because the role will see interaction with key individuals across CySAAS as well as access classified information.
Expenses will be within your daily rate for your regular work location. Additional travel expenses will be available should you need to travel to other sites beyond RAF Wyton. The MOD also supports flexible working (when possible), at the discretion of the programme manager.
Security clearance Active SC clearance is required by the start date of the contract and this will not be sponsored by the MOD.

Additional terms and conditions All expenses must be pre-agreed between the parties and must comply with the MOD Travel and Subsistence (T&S) Policy.
Off-payroll working rules apply (IR35 in-scope). Any Personal Services Company (PSC) candidates will require to come through an umbrella company.

Essential skills and experience
Proven experience as a Data Engineer
BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Engineering or other numerical field is preferred
Experience of Agile development CI/CD pipeline
Know how to undertake data profiling and source system analysis and can present clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of the data.
Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Understanding of linking data feeds between different tools to exploit common data
Nice-to-have skills and experience Can demonstrate experience of working with data that informs risk management decisions.
