II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Based on a detailed statement of requirements the replacement vessel shall be designed and constructed as a aft working deck DP2 Buoy-Laying/servicing vessel capable of carrying out: buoy work; hydrographic surveying and wreck finding in UK and Irish waters. To act as mother vessel for a capable work boat utilised for light inspections and for the transfer of personnel and packaged stores to Lights via rock, beach and slip type landings. The vessel shall as an auxiliary role be capable of hosting a work class ROV launching and recovery unit with associated equipment containers and undertake emergency towing operations. It is envisaged that helicopter load lifting may be incorporated from the main deck but no landing deck is intended. The vessel shall be designed for a service life of 25 years and to meet the highest environmental standards.

Flagged as a UK class VII cargo vessel port of Registry Leith with accommodation for 24 persons the vessel will be equipped with a 20 tonne off shore rated crane, and a chain winch capable of handling all likely mooring configurations. The deck shall be capable of storing four type 2 buoys or one tail tube buoy whilst continuing to service a buoy up and conduct swap outs from the storage area.
We currently estimate the timescales for awarding the contract in 2022 with delivery of the completed new build in 2024
