A 116-acre solar farm development could be built on land near a historic market town close to the south coast, if plans are brought forward.A request for a screening opinion has been submitted for the project, which could lead to a ground mounted photovoltaic solar development being built on the site, known as land at North Fossil Farm near Dorchester in Dorset. If built as currently proposed, the site could produce up to 40MW and save an estimated 12,000 tonnes of CO2, generating enough power annually for about 17,300 homes.
