1. Summary of Requirements / Description of Work: IT services: consulting, software development, Internet and support. Dstl (the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory) is an Executive Agency of the UK Ministry of Defence. We work to deliver high-impact science and technology for the benefit of the UK’s defence, security and prosperity. We provide sensitive and specialist science and technology (S&T) research, advice and analysis for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and wider Government. Since we were formed in 2001, we have built an excellent reputation for world-class S&T, mostly due to the expertise and commitment of our talented scientists and professionals.
We are seeking a new service provider(s) to deliver our IS service provision that is cost effective, demonstrates Value for Money (VfM) and leverages economies of scale to meet the Business Goals and strategic objectives of Dstl. The scope of this requirement is the provision of a range of services appropriate to support Dstl’s core business needs and the specialist S&T needs of the people it employs. Dstl is a knowledge economy where knowledge, information and data are valued assets to be appropriately protected, shared, discovered and exploited enabling Dstl to maximise the impact of S&T for the defence and security of the UK. Dstl has historically run information and data systems independent from the rest of defence and government, creating its and owns strategies, policies, processes and governance models that are suited to its business but in line with broader departmental intent. Going forward Dstl has the desire to leverage services from MOD, where appropriate, or buying in external services where the economies of cloud provision reduce cost and improve capability.
We are looking at the following services to be provided by the supplier:
Service Integration & Management, End User Devices, Business Applications, Specialist Hosting and Cloud, Boundary Networks and IA.
For this requirement bidders are required to register on the Dstl Electronic Tendering Portal

The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs).
