Plans for two office buildings and a nine-storey car park to be built at Airport City in Manchester have been submitted. The development forms part of Manchester Airport’s masterplan to 2030 and will be the first of its kind in the UK. It is being designed to compete with the likes of Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Barcelona, and aims to attract inward investment and provide new employment opportunities. The basic concept for Airport City is of a business destination, advanced manufacturing district and a location for hotels and other support services for Manchester Airport.Deloitte Real Estate has submitted the application, with the two office buildings totalling 98,300 sq ft and 95,8000 sq ft of space each. The pair have been designed to have a “visual consistency” to the emerging Airport City North Masterplan and adjacent plots. The car park would accommodate 1,497 spaces, including 78 disabled parking bays and 20 electric vehicle charging points.
