Integrated Defense and Security Solutions (IDSS) has been awarded a contract option, worth around $2.8 million under the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Accessible Property Screening System (APSS) program.

Under the option exercise, TSA will be supplied with additional advanced DETECT 1000 screening systems, IDSS Auto-Diverter Systems as well as deployment and integration of the scanner with various Automated Screening Lanes.

The DETECT 1000 is currently operational at Boston’s Logan Airport, Houston’s Hobby Airport and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.  Several other US and international customers have also obtained IDSS systems.  The additional systems purchased under this contract option are scheduled to be installed in before October 2019 at six US domestic airports.

Joe Paresi, IDSS CEO, said: “The IDSS team has focused on providing a system with advanced detection and growth capability while maintaining a Low Operational False Alarm Rate for our customers. The system offers high throughput and submillimeter image resolution which facilitates improved and expeditious security screening. This option exercise for additional DETECT 1000 systems further validates the benefits and readiness of this advanced CT technology.

“We are focused on supporting TSA and our international customers and appreciate TSA’s recognition of our capabilities to bring next generation technology to airport checkpoints for improved security screening for all passengers.”
