A new five-storey accommodation block at the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre at Lympstone is on the cards – as the current accommodation is ‘not fit for purpose’.Plans for the new development, which include a kit store and boot wash, have been submitted to East Devon District Council. The scheme would see the two-storey Normandy building, built in the late 1960s, replaced by the new five-storey building. If planners give the go-ahead to the scheme, the development will have a similar design as the other buildings on the camp, which include 10 dormitory blocks, a hospital, a chapel, a new learning centre and an education building.East Devon District Council planners will make the decision on the application.
