The current contract for Ship bridge simulators – Framework Lead is projected to end on 03-DEC-18 and may be available for retender. BRNC Bridge Simulator Upgrade.
Ship bridge simulators. The Bridge Simulator at BRNC, is a key tool in the delivery of navigational training and requires upgrading. There are two elements to the BRNC Bridge Simulator, the main simulator known as ‘Bridge One.’ In addition, ‘Bridge Two’ provides an extra training facility albeit at a reduced level in comparison to Bridge One and adds capacity and redundancy into BRNC’s navigation training. The upgrade to Bridge One is necessitated by ageing and degraded equipment however the Bridge Two improvement is essential to facilitate the increase in numbers coming through for navigation training. The upgraded simulator will achieve MCA (Maritime and Coastguard Agency) accreditation thus allowing trainees to accrue Training Sea Service (TSS) in the simulator, a key training aim as trainees must achieve a set number of TSS days prior to qualifying, placing a high burden on the very limited sea time available.
