General Atomics has received a $195m contract option to manufacture, assemble, test, inspect and checkout advanced arresting gear for the US Navy’s third Ford Class aircraft carrier. The company will support checkout spares, drawing, installation, repairs and technical data changes of the future USS Enterprise shipset. CVN 80 is the eighth US naval vessel to bear its name and will continue the legacy of previous Enterprise vessels.
