4. Description: About the Opportunity:
This opportunity is for the continuation of all ecological surveys (to include habitats and species) of land not previously accessed, update existing survey information to inform the need for licence applications to Natural England and other ecology surveys as necessary to continue with the EWC, MWSC and MWCC programmes.
The Subcontractor shall:
Use the Existing survey schedule to identify those surveys remaining to be undertaken
Establish what surveys are required following a review of survey results.
Undertake all identified ecological surveys including those to support (but not limited to) the Employers? Ground Investigation and Utilities Works being undertaken by Others.
The Subcontractor shall determine the need for ecological survey in time for the enabling works including but not limited to, utilities works, demolitions and site clearance. The programming of ecological surveys leading up to the enabling works shall take into account any additional time requirement associated with inter-disciplinary tasks, such as archaeology and heritage.
The Subcontractor shall:
Liaise with Others and undertake site visits as directed by the Project Manager to understand the survey locations, access requirements and mobilise to commence the surveys.
Use project specific survey proformas developed by the Employer.
Provide survey data to the Employer on a monthly basis. The Contractor shall be responsible for assurance of all data, information and proformas before submission.
The Contractor shall provide survey data digitally and in accordance with the Works Information.
Liaise with Others holding additional knowledge and information to help inform the need for and scope of surveys.
Make all necessary arrangements for an appropriate handover of such Information.

In review & selection of potential bidders to receive an Invitation to Tender for the works package, the awarding authority will base the decision on a range of factors – Previous relevant experience, Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, EDI, Ethical Sourcing, Company financial standing, Registration on Achilles Building Confidence.
If shortlisted, a further PQQ will be sent which contains project specific questions & evidence to be provided. This will assess capacity, capability, sustainability, equality, diversity & inclusion and environment and legacy requirements. Suppliers will also have to sign and return the Clients’ Non Disclosure Agreement as part of the PQQ process.
Following PQQ process selected suppliers will be invited to Tender. Please note that the assessment of tenders will be based on a balanced set of evaluation criteria. awarding authority is not bound to accept the lowest price in selecting the successful tender for award.
About the buyer:
High Speed 2 is a planned high-speed railway in the United Kingdom linking London, Birmingham, the East Midlands, Leeds and Manchester. The Enabling Works Contracts which have been awarded cover the whole of Phase One, from London to Birmingham.
For the Enabling Works phase, 3 joint ventures have been appointed of which the awarding authority has been awarded Area South, which covers the length of the planned route from London Euston out to the M25.
Under the contract awarding authority will deliver a range of activities within this geographical area including utility diversions, ecology surveys, demolition, ground remediation, watercourse activities, highways realignments, monitoring and instrumentation, structural reinforcements archaeology, site clearance as well as establishing site compounds.
