Nottingham Trent University has revealed plans for a new “state-of-the-art” six-storey educational building following its acquisition of Confetti Media Group last year. The plans for 50 Shakespeare Street, located within the city’s Creative Quarter, outlines the demolition of the former Racial Equality Centre and Frank Webb buildings, off Lower Parliament Street and Convent Street, to make way for a higher and further education facility for the Confetti Institute of Creative Technology.The new building will provide a range of teaching spaces, a café, learning resource centre as well as student support spaces. It has been designed to enhance the student experience and offer teaching accommodation for an additional 700 students over the next five years.Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies is a learning institute which focusses on providing industry vocational and degree training in music technology, gaming, ?lm and TV, radio and live events production.Established in 1994, Confetti Media Group started out as a small facility offering courses to those wanting to forge careers in the music business as producers, sound engineers, and technicians. It is a group of family of companies which include Antenna Media Centre, Constellations, Spool Films and the Denizen record label.Nottingham-based Allan Joyce Architects, which prepared the planning documents, stated if approved, the project would be the cornerstone or ?agship of Confetti activity.It also added that there would be new premises at other locations around the city but the Convent Street site needs to act as the main centre.
