Popular Leeds bar group Stew & Oyster is to expand into Otley after securing planning permission for the conversion of a former school in the spa town. The grade II*-listed Old Grammar School building was originally constructed in 1614 with a subsequent enlargement completed in 1740 and an upper storey added 50 years later.Stew & Oyster’s application to change the use of the property from professional offices and an art gallery to a restaurant and wine bar has now been approved by Leeds City Council. The approval is subject to certain conditions and granted on the basis that the bar redevelopment will not diminish the special architectural value of the building.
